Wayfinding at Boppelsen school

Checking the way

When Frontwork contacted the people responsible for the Boppelsen school complex with regard to the construction of a new gymnasium/multi-purpose hall, the actual wayfinding requirements were minimal.

Nevertheless, one thing became apparent during the first visit. The kids needed to get around the school easily, quickly and safely.

Utmost care for the children

Brigitte Grüter, customer advisor at Frontwork, was faced with the following situation: the budget was small, but the need was great. The measures which would have to be implemented were defined on site together with the responsible people.

Checking the way

Guidance which shows elements of the building’s architecture was put into effect. Chequered diamonds on the window panes and glass panels now ensure that neither people nor wildlife can crash into the glass.

The square of the walls consisting of mosaic tesserae was the base element for the design. The overall look incorporated the square as a style element – it has a timeless effect and is homogenous. The customer was delighted and approved the design.

Clarity in architecture and guidance

Boppelsen school is situated in a green, rural environment and has an attractive and clear architecture. The school was therefore made for homogeneous and visually harmonious guidance. The golden bronze window and door frames were the base colour for exterior steles, a site plan and playground rules.

Meticulous work with an eye-catching effect

Interior signage such as room signs and pictograms were provided, as well as infoboxes and guidance in the lifts. One of the showcases is an exceptional eye-catcher: a 200-year-old wood carving with the local coat of arms is displayed in this.

This is the way to the first day at school

Frontwork’s comprehensive wayfinding project means that all the schoolchildren, personnel and visitors can immediately find their bearings. Just in time for the first day at school!
